A rural townland in the foothills of the Drum Hills 5 km northwest of Ardmore village. Canon Power (1907) gives the placename as 'Field of the Grove' which probably indicates this townland was part or largely wooded at one stage - such woodlands would have served as a source of roundwood for charcoal making, fence and house building as well as for seasonal fruits and nuts.
