Public House

Dans Bar Bweeng

Dan O Callaghan was the last proprietor and it has been closed for a few years. It was a well known old style tavern which was opened in the early 1900’s.

Molly Looneys Pub Bweeng

Molly was a local lady named Murphy who lived nearby and married into the Looney family. Although it is in the heart of Bweeng village it is in the townland of Shanavoher and dates back to the late 1890’s.

Gortroe Inn

The Buckley family built this public house in the 1850s (there is a date stone on the gable wall). It served as a pub, provisions and fuel shop. O'Connells bought it from Buckleys and Pat Lyons had it after them (Pat was arrested during the War of Independence).
