Construction of Market House (1899)

Construction of Market House (1899)

The Market House was completed by August 1899 and one can assume that that construction began sometime after William Perceval's death in January 1899. The structure is built of wrought iron with a concave pagoda roof of corrugated sheeting. The authors of the conservation report on the market house speculated that it is possible that the market house may have been constructed by Thompson’s of Carlow, a long-established fabricator which is still in existence today.
