Early 19th century coastal watchtower. Includes base of semaphore signalling system.

This Gothic style watch tower was built c. 1800. it is associated with the Napoleonic defence network built along hte coastline of Ireland in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

The World War II coastwatch crew first stayed in the ruined watch tower until the Lookout Post was built in 1940.
