Curraghbower Mill

Built by George Bolster in 1848 this mill was in use until the 1930s.  Dan & May Healy were the last occupants of the mill. Dan dealt in stallions of all sorts and mare's were often covered in the yard as Dan supervised. Asked once what was the pedigree of a particular stallion Dan replied 'Dragging along the ground'. The Healy's lived in the managers house attached to the mill. /George Meade and his wife lived here in the 1960s. George was a teacher in Gortmore school. George is originally from the Kilmallock district where he served in the IRA during the War of Independence./The mill was fed by two millraces from Glengarrif stream and Duvglasha river.
