The Glen Theatre Banteer was officially opened in 2005 by Mrs Mary Keane, wife of the great John B Keane Listowel. It is situated in the heart of Duhallow. It was built in 1841 as a national school and closed in 1976. It later became a theatre seating 150 people. It was a cultural award winner in 2007 and development award winner in 2009. The Glen Theatre is home to Banteer Drama Group and has staged many famous groups and artists. It is situated 2km from Banteer village on the Nadd-Cork road. The theatre is community owned, community developed and community run.
