This is a 'holy well' dedicated to St. Bericheart, a seventh century saint. Its popularity in the community is still strong with 'rounds' paid especially on Well Day February 18th.
St. Marys Well is situated across the road from St. Berichearts well. It is in the townland of Poulavere (the 'hole of the finger'). It was originally a Baptistery. Ancient lore records that Cromwell granted it to one of his Roundheads. It was lined with oak planks and lead.
